Deacon Bill Remmert
Deacon

Contact

About

Deacon Bill’s family moved to Birmingham when he was in elementary school. He graduated from Our Lady of Sorrows Elementary and John Carroll Catholic High School. Fellow parishioners think he made the wrong turn while going to college; in that he attended Auburn University and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. Prior to finishing college he married his high school sweetheart and they have been blessed with five children and a growing flock of grandchildren.

After being out of the state for many years an employment opportunity brought the Remmerts to Tuscaloosa in 1987. They have been active members of St. Francis since that time and Bill answered a call to the diaconate in 2001 and was ordained a permanent deacon in 2005. Life as a member of the St. Francis community has been a very rewarding part of his family’s spiritual journey. Deacon Bill is involved with the prison ministry.
